Shortly after the tragedy of May 3, the DCCCD Foundation began accepting donations for the Janeera Gonzalez Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is now open for students to apply for spring 2018.
The scholarship was established in 2017 by North Lake College to honor the life of student, Janeera Nickol Gonzalez, who was tragically killed at North Lake College on May 3, 2017. Janeera would have been the first in her family to graduate from college. This scholarship will support students studying at North Lake College.
The scholarship award is up to $500.00 per semester. Application deadline is November 1.
-Must have a minimum DCCCD GPA of 2.0
-Must be a North Lake College student
-Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for period of award
-Must be a first generation college student
-Must be a graduate of Irving High School
-Must answer the supplemental questions –
What is a social justice issue in our society today that is important to you and why?
-Recipient must write a thank you note to the family of Janeera Gonzalez
